Join our gumnut friends for days filled with fun and exploration in a warm family home! We focus on creating child-oriented and individualised environments to ensure each of our guests can feel safe, comfortable, and supported during their stays.
❋ Warm Home EnvironmentChildren spend their time in a home filled with comfy nooks and family members coming to and fro. Instead of the daycare setting, we aim to create a space in which children can feel comfortable and relaxed!
❋ Child-Centered ProgramWe blend guided moments with open-ended play to suit the interests and ages of the children in attendance each day. No activity is compulsory, and children are always free to explore and engage independently throughout the day.
❋ Strong Carer RelationshipBy spending their time with only one carer, children are able to build a strong and familiar relationship with them. When children know they can rely upon their carer, they are able to play, explore, and learn with confidence and security.
❋ Emphasis on ComfortOur number one priority is always to ensure that the children in our care feel safe and supported. Whether that’s through mirroring their familiar home routines or spending the morning cuddled up on the sofa, we’re dedicated to making their daycare experience as stress free as possible.
Hi, I’m Thea!
I’m the creator of and carer for The Gap Gumnuts. My time working in big daycare centers taught me the importance of a warm, welcoming, and secure environment for babies and toddlers. I started The Gap Gumnuts to offer an education and care experience that aligned with those beliefs. I’m passionate about building strong relationships with each of my little visitors, and providing them with opportunities for play and discovery that will foster a lifelong sense of curiosity and love of learning within them.
I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, alongside many relevant trainings and certificates including First Aid, CPR, Safe Sleeping, Child Protection, Food Safety, and Emergency Response.
Our Daily Flow
No two days look the same here at The Gap Gumnuts, as we adjust our routines and programs to suit the interests, needs, and ages of the children in attendance.
Most days can be split into these six blocks, and while on days with younger children we may be ready for lunch at 11:00, when our older friends are here we sometimes have lunch as late as 12:30.
7:30 - 9:30 — Child-led play while waiting for all of our friends to arrive
9:30 - 10:00 — Morning Tea and transition to a structured activity
10:00 - 11:00 — A carer-led activity focused on art, science, or sensory-based play
11:00 - 12:00 — Transition to quiet activities, prepare for rest time, and enjoy lunch
12:00 - 2:00 — Rest time and quiet activities for those who don’t sleep
2:00 - 5:30 — Afternoon tea and child-led play until home time
